Members of the Connexus Customer Involvement Panels (CIP) have been able to find out more about the latest housing industry trends after attending the annual Central Housing Investment Consortium (CHIC) conference at Worcester’s Sixways Stadium.
CIP members, Graham Stockton, June Phillips and Lorraine Teece, joined fellow tenants from across the region at the event which aims to not only showcase the latest technology and developments in the sector, but also provides opportunities for discussion and sharing experiences.
Innovations on display included a volumetric house where the majority of the property is built in a factory, including the doors and windows. The final home is completed on site in a fraction of the usual building time.
“This was my second time attending this event and again it proved very worthwhile. I especially enjoyed the workshops that showcases new building techniques.”
June Phillips, chair of CIP North, added:
“The highlight for me of the day was touring the volumetric house which was amazing and not only quick to build but also well designed and with an excellent layout inside. This was my first time at the CHIC conference, and I learned a lot more about the sector which will support my role in scrutinising housing association services.”
All CIP members not only benefit from free training to carry out their role but are also able to attend conferences like this, where they can learn more about future trends and compare their experiences with other housing associations.
