The Connexus Customer Involvement Panel (CIP) has donated £200 to The Shrewsbury Ark, a charity that supports homeless people throughout the county by providing warm clothes, bedding, hot meals and face-to-face chats.
The money was raised at a coffee morning and cake stall held at The Gateway, Craven Arms that also included a prize raffle.
Ian Somervaille CBE, treasurer of The Shrewsbury Ark, came along and accepted the cheque from the CIP which he said would be very helpful in supporting their work and ambitions to move to larger premises which would also contain emergency accommodation. He said:
“As a charity, we currently need to raise around £100,000 per year to cover operating costs and this donation is gratefully received.”
Joan Grant, Chair of CIP, said:
“This charity is so worthwhile, and so we have decided to continue fund-raising for them in the next financial year. The planning of future events has already begun.”
